Subject:How you can help folks who've been arrested at the RNC
Posted by:fiend_in_wein.
Time:3:41 pm.
Arrest tally from Ramsey County Sheriff's Office as of 10:30 p.m. last night: 284 total; 130 felonies; 51 gross misdemeanors; 103 misdemeanors.

Many arrestees are being held without booking in the Ramsey Cty jail. Not in the system yet, told no info & they won't see judges until Wed.

12-13 people being held in a "cage" in Ramsey County Jail.

Though some people have been cited and released, the majority are still being held in jail. We’ve gotten many reports that people are not getting proper medical attention, are being refused their medication, and/or have been separated from the rest of the group.

Also, there are also many felony charges, which allow the state to hold the protesters for a longer period of time. Felony charges have historically been used as scare tactics against activists, and there is much less precedent for them to hold up in court. More often, these bogus charges are simply used to keep protesters off the streets and as a way to oppress and silence people.

Please show your support and solidarity by calling the jail at 651.266.9350 and demand that people are given proper medical attention, are given access to their medication, and are not separated from the larger group! Also, demand that arrestees’ charges are dropped and that they are released immediately! You can also call the Ramsey County Sheriff’s office at 651.487.5149 or the St. Paul Mayor’s office at 651.266.8510, as well your city council member, state representatives, etc.

Calls from jail to Cold Snap Legal Collective have been blocked - please call the jail - 651-266-9350 - and demand that they allow free calls to 651-356-8635

Check Cold Snap Legal Collective for the most up to date information.

First of all, sorry if you get this kind of question all the time and it's annoying; I'm new here.

Is anyone here from FNB Tucson? I'd love to know a little more about its members, as FNB chapters seem to vary widely from city to city.

Are they a very active chapter? Are the members diverse or is it pretty punk-centric? Are most members a certain age? Are most members students? What kind of interests do some of the members have outside of FNB? Are most people introverted or extroverted? Male-dominated? Female-dominated? Et cetera, et cetera.

Subject:So, it seems that the local fnb chapter here in Gainesville is defunct...
Posted by:jesifromthesun.

Mood: thoughtful.
Hey everyone, my name is Jesi, and I just moved here to Gainesville, and It seems that G'ville fnb is dead? Well, if it is, why hasn't anyone tried to organize a new chapter? Look everybody, I have more than enough time on my hands, I just do not really know many people here in town yet, or the exact situation of homlessness here in Gainesville. But, if enough people are really truly intrested in starting a fnb, then it would maybe be somewhat possible? I could provide with the house to cook at too. So, anybody write if you wanna try and get something going again! Unless, there is already a fnb here, which then, someone please enlighten me! Cause I have no idea!

Subject:The Undignified Death of Gainesville Food Not Bombs
Posted by:kabbalakid.
Time:12:50 pm.
Well, it looks like the Dragon Lady ( Jennifer ) did respond. She came back with her fangs bared and sharpened her claws. As I predicted, she certainly didn't take the
criticism constructively, in fact, on the Gainesville FNB Live Journal. She and her
lackeys in the Gainesville FNBs attacked me with a petty childish vengeance. They replied with endearings phrases such as " moron " and " you pathetic fuck " One
person even accused me of being an impostor and a " rival of Aaron Levine " and trying to make his name " SHIT in this town " to which I then replied that knew of NO OTHER
Aaron Levines in Gainesville, Florida and the nearest AARON LEVINE I knew resides in
Fort Lauderdale.

To those of you who replied that should start my own chapter of Gainesville FNBs, I say
...I'd love to...if I had the money, time, assistance and resources. I attend University of Florida and I am paying MY OWN tuition with the TWO jobs I have.

Oh yeah, the homeless are still going home hungry every Saturday and when folks inquire
via email whether there will be a feeding the subsquent Saturday, the arrogant jerks
don't bother to respond to these unfortunate indigents.

Subject:The Death of Gainesville Food Not Bombs
Posted by:kabbalakid.
Time:4:52 pm.
Mood: pissed off.
We have a dire situation here in Gainesville, FL .
Every Saturday in Gainesville, the local FNBs are supposed to feed in the downtown plaza at 4:00pm ; but for the last six months, nobody, I mean NOBODY has been showing up to share there. Instead, those poor homeless and other indigent folks get the runaround and great deal of flimsy excuses for the local " Food Not Bombs " absence.

This sorry excuse of a spokesperson named " Jennifer " ( vagroaches@livejournal.com )
always claims that the Saturday crew DOES show up, albeit it late, but according to
the street people who congregate in the plaza ; they haven't SEEN any Food Not Bombs
in the last SIX MONTHS.

This " Jennifer " does not take inquiries or constructive criticisms well for she snarls back and insults those who dare question her. She told one person on the
FNBs listserve to " put your actions where your damn mouth is " and when he replied
that he was no longer interested in volunteering for FNBs because of her attitude,
( and probably because he didn't to be around her ) she told him " good riddance. "

I,myself, can vouch for those misfortunates in the plaza who go hungry every Saturday
because of those self-serving Gainesville " Food Not Bombs " jerks, because I have
driven around the plaza on numerous Saturdays starting from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and saw
no sign of any feeding.

The current crew at Gainesville Food Not Bombs have been asked by numerous people, including former Gainesville Food Not Bombers, to hang it up if they can't do a
better job and stop giving ALL Food Not Bombs everywhere a bad name.

I suggest they change the name of the Gainesville Food Not Bombs chapter to " Bullshit
Not Bombs.

In Solidarity,
Aaron Levine

does anyone know how i could go about organizing a punk show to benefit my local FNB? we're just starting here (we had one back in the day but things changed) and i know people in punk bands or whatever, but not enough to understand how exactly to go about setting up a venue, etc. as of now, i've just messaged bands to let them know of the idea and ask if they'd be interested. anyone know how to actually organize it?

Subject:Dog up for adoption
Posted by:h8disease.
Time:2:00 pm.
For those who don't know this, I volunteer for a local (New Haven, CT) animal adoption project that specializes in cats. Last night, when I got to work, the hospital had a rottweiler named Harley that had been given up for euthanization. The events as I understand it are, the dog was brought in with a hip problem. After having been treated, Harley went home with his owner. Apparently, he was brought back in a day or so later with a broken femur. The owner allegedly tried saying she didn't know how it happened, then finally admitted the dog fell at home (whether through negligence or accident, I don't know). What amazed me is, the owner apparently decided the dog was too much trouble or something to that degree, and wanted to have it euthanized.
I sat with this dog for a total of about half an hour before and after doing my volunteer work, and he is amazingly affectionate. He kept putting his paw in my lap and letting me scratch behind his ears and all down his sides. At one point, I was sitting next to him on the floor with my back to a cabinet, and had my hand under his head. Harley decided to lay his head down on my hand and doze off for a few minutes with me cradling his head. He's one of the most pleasant dogs I've seen come through the hospital. Apparently, right before I arrived, a kitten walked up to him, swatted his nose, and HE backed down.
I will inform through this medium that this is a somewhat bigger dog. As an adult male, Harley is about 140 lbs, and stands at mid-thigh height to me (measured from the top of his head when standing). However, rottweilers have a much better disposition than people seem to understand. The portrayal of the mean, vicious junkyard dog only applies to these animals when they've been abused and trained to react to humans with suspicion and anger. Normally, rottweilers are sweet and loving, and VERY protective of their families. I would have adopted him in a heartbeat, but I'm in a situation where it's not possible. If anyone would like to talk to the people who deal with adoption, message me here and I'll send you their phone number. I am willing to help in transporting him, in exchange for EXACTLY how much gas I use, and not a penny more (and I only ask for gas because I'm unemployed).
